After pentobarbital, a lethal drug used in pet euthanasia caused the death of a dog on New Year's Eve 2016, WJLA Washington, D.C. partnered with Ellipse Analytics to test pentobarbital on various pet food brands. Of the 15 cans of Gravy Train, 60% were tested positive for pentobarbital. While detectable levels are not considered lethal, these drugs are not legally permitted at any concentration in pet food. After refusing the interview in front of the camera, the FDA stated that "will investigate this issue and take appropriate enforcement action."
