Sims Resources (often called only TSR ) is a custom Sims content site that offers custom content for all downloadable Sims games with the intent to change and/or expand the game. The site offers a wide range of furniture, hairstyles, clothing, shelter, etc. All of which can be downloaded for free and installed into people's games and used in games. It was formed in 1999 by a group of players who are tired of the limits made by the author of the official Sims. To date, TSR has 866k special floors, walls, objects, clothing, hair and make-up to download for The Sims The Sims 2 , The Sims 3 , and The Sims 4 . As of 2010, the site counts 2.2 million members and about 680 thousand mods.
The site was founded by Steve Bonham, Thomas Isacsson, Johan Isacsson, Jan Isacsson, and Mikeal Sundberg. It has daily updates, and has a core group of featured artists, which creates some of the most popular and most interesting items on the site.
All downloads are available for free and registration is not required. Initially, the site offers subscription-based premium membership options, which allow paid users to access premium content, but this was eventually changed in October 2013 and users are now allowed to download every article on the site, including those previously offered exclusively to customers. However, Premium users can still take advantage of facilities such as faster ad-hugging and faster and more convenient download options.
There is an active forum on the site, which contains a variety of different topics such as how forums guide new creators in creating links, to general game tips and tricks that anyone can use. This forum is very moderated, and no chats are allowed above the PG-13 level. Moderators and staff of The Sims Resource strive to keep the whole site child-friendly, and not allow any conversations or content displayed that can be regarded as R rated.
