Signs of Kehr is the occurrence of acute pain at the tip of the shoulder due to blood or other irritation in the peritoneal cavity when a person lies and the leg is removed. The Kehr mark on the left shoulder is considered the classic phenomenon of a ruptured spleen. May occur as a result of diaphragmatic or peridiaphragmatic lesions, kidney stones, splenic injury or ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

The Kehr sign is a classic example of the referred pain: diaphragm irritation characterized by the phrenic nerve as pain in the area above the collarbone. This is because the supraclavicular nerve has the same cervical nerve origin as the phrenic nerves, C3 and C4.

The discovery is often associated with a German gall bladder surgeon named Hans Kehr, but extensive research into the research he has done throughout his life shows convincing evidence, whether he actually finds it or not.
